Folk Tales from Many Lands

GASK, Lilian. Folk Tales from Many Lands. London: George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd. 1925.

Hardback edition in very good condition. Green quarter bound with decoration on the front for ‘Luton Modern School’. Marbled endpapers and page edges. On the front endpaper is a presentation slip to ‘Joy Dudley, Prize for Form Work 1st Form I, July 1925’. The illustration by Willy Pogany from p.58 is missing. William Pogany was a Hungarian artist who found fame because of the demand for Arthur Rackham style artists in the early 1900s. He went on to achieve fame of his own and moved to New York to work for the Metropolitan Opera House before becoming an art director in film studios in Hollywood.
