After twelve years of running Kibworth Books, selling brand new books to the folks of South Leicestershire and beyond, I decided in the Autumn of 2021 to start researching the possibility of branching out into secondhand and antiquarian books. After attending seminars and studying the magical world of antiquarian bookselling, I decided it was time to open another (fourth!) room at the bookshop, specialising in out-of-print treasures. This is how Daker Books – a bespoke room housed in the Kibworth Books barn – was born.
The Daker Books Story
Opened in 2022 as a bookshop inspired by my family’s passion and love for books.
Following much renovation and refurbishment, Daker Books was launched on
25th June 2022. The collection is named after my mother’s family and this date would have been Grandma and Grandad Daker’s wedding anniversary. My Nanna on my father’s side and I always bonded over books too, especially Agatha Christie thrillers; books have been a constant source of joy in my family across generations.

A warm and welcoming environment in which to browse our hand-curated stock.
I think that books, especially old and out-of-print books are on a special journey of their own and Daker Books is a place where these books find their next home. Our ethos is to provide a comfortable, safe space for book lovers to browse our hand-curated stock, where we’ll also help you to find that one elusive book you’ve been trailing for years. We have one whole wall of fiction including signed first editions and a big Folio collection and non-fiction categories including music, art, cookery, biography, history and nature. Everyone is welcome in our bookshop.
