The Corrections revolves around the troubles of an elderly Midwestern couple and their three adult children, tracing their lives from the mid-twentieth century to ‘one last Christmas’ together near the turn of the millennium. It was published to wide acclaim from literary critics for its characterization and prose, and it has been listed in multiple publications as one of the greatest novels of the twenty-first century.

His 2001 novel The Corrections drew widespread critical acclaim, earned him a National Book Award, was a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction finalist, earned a James Tait Black Memorial Prize and was shortlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award.
